I love it how just about everyone, from all points of the political spectrum, swears we are a ‘Democracy’. Tell that to the school teacher, the small businessman, the truck driver who wishes to hold statewide or federal elected office. As my fellow Italian American buddies from the old neighborhood would say: Forgeddaboutit! Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, if you don’t have millions to spend you won’t win elections! On top of that if you ain’t with the Repugnantans or the Demoncrats you will never succeed. Matter of fact, 90% of the populace won’t even know you ran!
We are drowning in a sea of corporate and Super Rich private equity/hedge funds sharks. Muskrat gave, what, $240 million of his billionaire cash to help ‘Platinum Hair’ re-elected (I surmise that all that moolah got Donald a better hair coloring). Look back at 2008 when ‘Mr. Hope and No Change’ ran against ‘Straight Talk Express’. Obama received over $21 million in donations from the healthcare industry, to McCain’s $7 + million. Oh, is that why Barack just sunk the Public Option for Medicare idea as quickly as a U-Boat torpedoing a merchant ship? Children: It is ALL about money! Former NYC progressive radio talk show host Jay D. says don’t call it Capitalism. Call it Moneyism!
“Platinum Hair’, with his Muskrat sidekick, are currently dismantling many of the agencies we need to protect working stiffs and retired working stiffs. I never thought that they would ever go after Social Security. They are. As Senator Ron Wyden put it succinctly yesterday, to paraphrase: “Their plan was and now is to implode Social Security from the inside (firings, closings of offices and restricting phone contacts) to get the suckers–Sorry, the public–really incensed and then tell us they will hire private companies to fix the mess.” Sad, so sad.
The Gilded Age (late 1870s- late 1890s) is going to look like a much better time than now.
