They claim that almost half of the eligible electorate do not vote. Why do you think that is? Others, like this writer, who are socialists, have ‘ Bit the tongue’ and voted for the Foxes AKA Democrats, simply to keep the Wolves AKA Republicans at bay. This time around, as in 2016, the Wolves won. Methinks it was as I joked in 2016, post election, that ‘If the Democrats would have run Donald Duck instead of Hillary Clinton, they would have defeated Trump’. Alas, they didn’t did they?
It seems that for most of my baby boomer lifetime I was under the spell of this Foxes vs. Wolves scam. I say scam because the Deep State, the one that the MAGA crowd likes to mention, has always run this empire. President Eisenhower nailed it perfectly when he waited too late to announce that it is ‘ This Military Industrial Complex’ ( I say Empire) that runs things. When they, the empire, gets frustrated by a politician or muckraker speaking too much truth to power, they order to ‘Terminate his command with extreme prejudice’ as was stated in Coppola’s Apocalypse Now. Interesting that Trump got his electoral nuts by standing against the very faction that helped place him in power. Most of us don’t understand that this so called Deep State has many branches that don’t always see eye to eye on procedure, yet keep the empire on top. Biden and Trump, Obama and Bush Jr., Reagan and Carter and on and on ALL dance to the same piper: THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL EMPIRE! Then they get out of office, make millions on book deals, and become ‘ Senior Statesmen’.
When one rallies for socialist ideals and programs the Foxes and Wolves make sure that voice is not heard or read. You become an Unwanted enigma. Look what they did to Ralph Nader more than once, and he wasn’t even a socialist. The latest labeling by both the Foxes and the Wolves is to just brand us as Marxists and or Communists. You rally for National Health Care for All, Public banking, drastic cutting of the obscene military spending ( around 50% of discretionary budget), free public universities, a Universal Basic Income, increased taxing of the Super Rich to name but a few ideals, and you become Persona Non Grata and ‘ Anti American’.
