Lots of ironic and contradictory things to consider folks. First off, is it weird that since many believe there is but One Creator, why all the infighting? It seems that each of the leading religions of the world refer to God as Christ, Allah, Brahma, Shiva, Yahweh, Krishna etc. Yet, since there is only ONE Creator, it must be the one and same entity, yes? Sit down and ask any of the overly dedicated adherents of these religions if they really feel that their God is the same as that of a different religion. You know what you will get, right? “NO! My God is special!
As an American living through this political and religious circus, the screws are really tightening. Item # 1 is this con job referring to our republic as a democracy. Methinks we never have been one. Going back to those so called ‘Founding Fathers’ America was a slave and feudal society ruled by money… and lots of it. One did not hold electoral office without being super rich or having super rich patrons behind you. Item #2: As far as religion goes, how in the hell could we be a ‘Judaic/Christian’ nation with all the people of color we savaged in the name of progress… both at home or overseas?
What baffles this writer is this current climate of so called ‘Devout Christianity’. The devotees who love Jesus obviously never studied his Sermon on the Mount. Everything Jesus taught goes against how these far right wing Christians behave. These folks wore those MAGA hats with pride as Trump captured the White House in 2016. One surmises that they, who believe in family values and righteous living, ignored it when this man said on tape “You gotta grab them by their pussies”. If a Democratic politician said those words he would be tar and feathered and run out of town! Instead, they got in line and supported Mr. MAGA again as he grabs, detains, then ships and imprisons brown people. You know, the ones who work in 100 degree kitchens washing dishes, picking fruits and vegetables for peanuts, hammering on roofs in oppressive summer heat and so on. The new mantra nowadays is a repeat of what I heard during the Vietnam debacle: “America, love it or leave it!”
