A few months ago I was chatting with a retired lawyer friend at the local Y. He is a devout Catholic who regularly attends Sunday Mass. When he informed me that he believed approximately 75% of people who went to Mass at his church are MAGA, it shocked me. Then, it dawned on me that many let us say ‘ Conservative Catholics’ are vehemently opposed to birth control and of course the gay lifestyle. I guess it meant nothing to them that Trump, when running for president the first time, actually was taped bragging about how to handle women. ” You just grab them by their pussies!” One surmises that Catholic and devout Christian women ignore this disgusting mindset when they want abortion banned and gays ‘ Put in their place.’
Oh, and of course the other hot button issue for many devout churchgoers is those damn illegal aliens who sneak across our border with tons of fentanyl , ready to rape our white daughters and granddaughters. Lost in that rhetoric is the fact that the fruits and vegetables nibbled on by those possible rape victims is picked under the hot sun by illegals. Or the army of nannies watching upper middle class and upper class babies and toddlers by illegal women. The guys who hammer and nail our hot Florida roofs most of the year are those very same illegals. And ditto and ditto and ditto.
Which brings me to the point of this piece. Please google the name of Greg Bovino, once lead thug in the Border Patrol and ICE world recently. Greg, 56 and fit as a 20 year old, has that look that our history books reveal with photos of the Nazi Party storm troopers way back when. Greg directed his thugs to push, drag, pummel and kick while on the ground anyone who stood in their way.. sometimes resulting in outright murder! He was protected by an administration, led by lackey Ms. Noem and directed by Trump through his ‘ Dictator whisperer’ Stephen Miller and the Heritage Foundation gangsters. No charges against the ICE killers at all. Wonderful nation we have become.
At the Y that afternoon months ago Jeff and I were discussing the Big Ugly Bill and how it was going to sabotage SNAP food relief and Medicaid. Suddenly a voice from the peanut gallery. A guy, looking about the same age as Greg Bovino and muscular as him, with premature white hair and that same scowl, yelled out to us from an arm curling Nautilus machine ” They ain’t never gonna touch Medicaid. You watch too much MSNBC and don’t know the truth from those Democrat shows.” Like Bovino, who just ‘ Follows orders’ this guy was just following ‘ The Program’ of this far right wing insanity.
