This upcoming election is more than just the usual One Party/Two Party runaround that has dominated our republic for so long. One needs to read Tom Stanton’s 2016 book Terror in the City of Champions: Murder, Baseball and the Secret Society That Shocked Depression Era Detroit. Stanton focuses on both The Black Legion, a white supremacist terrorist group, and the year (1935) the Detroit Tigers finally won a World Series, mixed in with racial prejudice and murder. The Black Legion was a Midwestern offshoot of the Ku Klux Klan during the 1920s and 30s. It seems that, sadly, The Civil War never did end… as it still remains to be true now.

In 1933, at the height of The Depression, retired Major General Smedley Butler blew the whistle on what was called ‘ The Business Plot’. Here is how Wikipedia explains it:

·         The Business Plot, also called the Wall Street Putsch^[1] and the White House Putsch, was a political conspiracy in 1933, in the United States, to overthrow the government of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and install Smedley Butler as dictator.^[2][3] Butler, a retired Marine Corps major general, testified under oath that wealthy businessmen were plotting to create a fascist veterans’ organization with him as its leader and use it in a coup d’état to overthrow Roosevelt. In 1934, Butler testified under oath before the United States House of Representatives Special Committee on Un-American Activities (the “McCormack–Dickstein Committee”) on these revelations.^[4] Although no one was prosecuted, the congressional committee final report said, “there is no question that these attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient.”

 If one takes the time to review the events at the Capitol Building on January 6th, 2021 and the riotous damage done by the MAGA supporters, one must see the connections to the 1933 Business Plot. Please recall how then President Trump, in a debate with Biden, handled the question about the far right wing white supremacist and racist Proud Boys. He was asked what he would do with them and he said ” Stand Back and Stand By”. This is all one needs to understand as to how a new Republican led administration and Congress will operate… or actually will allow far right extremists to behave.

The Heritage Foundation recently wrote a new plan for how the government will be run once the
Republican Party and Donald Trump have power in 2025. Let’s go right to Wikipedia:

Project 2025 is a collection of conservative and right-wing policy proposals from the Heritage Foundation to reshape the United States federal government and consolidate executive power should the Republican nominee, presumably Donald Trump, win the 2024 presidential election.^[2][3] The Project asserts that the entire executive branch is under the direct control of the president under Article II of the U.S. Constitution and unitary executive theory.^[4][5] It proposes reclassifying tens of thousands of federal civil service workers as political appointees in order to replace them with loyalists more willing to enable the next Republican president’s policies.^[6] In doing so, proponents argue that the change would dismantle what they view as a vast, unaccountable, and mostly liberal government bureaucracy.^[7] The Project seeks to infuse the government and society with Christian values.^[8][9] Critics have characterized Project 2025 as an authoritarian, Christian nationalist plan to transform the U.S. into an autocracy.^[10][8] Many legal experts have said it would undermine the rule of law,^[11] the separation of powers,^[3] the separation of church and state,^[12] and civil liberties,^[3][11][13] including the civil rights of women, persons of color, and the LGBTQ community.^[14] The project has employed warlike rhetoric and apocalyptic language^[15] in describing a “battle plan” to regain control of the government.^[a]

Project 2025 envisions widespread changes to the government, particularly economic and social policies and the role of the federal government and its agencies. The plan proposes taking partisan control of the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Commerce, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), dismantling the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and sharply reducing environmental and climate change regulations to favor fossil fuel production.

As much as this writer has a long list of gripes against how underwhelming Biden and the majority of his party are, this is NOT the time for that. For anyone who either works for a living or retired from being a working stiff, the mission ahead is certain: We cannot allow the Republican Party and its leader Trump to assume any power from here on! We are speaking of outright fascism, no bones about it. If you want another Black Legion to surface and have any sort of legitimacy, we all will ‘Reap the whirlwind’ folks.
